Dan Kempton

The Arizona Republic

“Reconstructing Jason”

“This graphic was the clear standout, well designed and illustrated. A nice use of colors to denote category (Prostheses, Tissue expansion and

Restoration). Color as a noun, one of my favorite techniques. The graphic is clear, concise, and maintains an effective design throughout.

An excellent example of visual journalism.”

Second Place

design. The visual transition of the ship along with the cutaways provide a

good volume of data within an economy of means. Nicely done.”

refreshing and makes for a fun-to-read graphic. The design is a bit

heavy-handed, but not to the point of being obtuse. The animal art is packed with detail and so well executed.”
