"The artist makes very creative and clever use of imagery to illustrate the theme of the story, which is how an experimental federal gang intervention program tries to convince kids to leave gangs. Particularly intriguing is how the artist chose to illustrate the subjects in the experiment using prison numbers instead of facial features. Also, the use of test tubes and the laboratory setting cleverly illustrates that the program is an experiment."
