Press Club awards scholarship The press club awards scholarships of
up to $1,000 each to college student reporters, photographers and designers
studying journalism at an Arizona two- or four-year college.

- Check out the Arizona First Amendment
Coalition. Journalists can call the coalition's hotline
for free advice on Arizona's Open Meeting and Public Records laws. Call
(602) 351-8000 and ask for the First Amendment Coalition hotline. The press
club has six seats on the coalition's board of directors.
- The Arizona Press Club's Distinguished
Service award honors a lifetime of service and excellence by an Arizona
journalist or instructor. The award
is presented at the annual awards
party.
- The sixth edition of the
Arizona Reporter's Handbook on Media Law
is now available. Perkins Coie Brown & Bain attorney Dan Barr led a team
of 10 attorneys in Phoenix and Seattle in revising the
Handbook, which was last
released in 2002. Topics covered include access to court proceedings, public
records, open meetings, and public and private places. The new
Handbook also addresses
subpoenas issued against the news media, search warrants, gag orders, prior
restraints, libel, invasion of privacy, promises of confidentiality to
sources, copyright and trademark issues, and Section 230 immunity for online
content. The Arizona Reporter's Handbook
